"CFOX, The Radio Bed-In Remembered - Le Bed-In Radiophonique en souvenirs"
"In 2016-17, The Queen Elizabeth Fairmont Hotel undergoes major renovations, re-launching again in July of 2017.
All three famous Lennon-Ono Bed-In suites of 1969 (# 1738-40-42) are part of the refresh as well, undergoing an
extensive 2.0 makeover during this period, the trio of suites ready in plenty of time for the 50th Anniversary of the
event in 2019. The iconic premises now come complete with even more of the original functional artifacts
and equipment in the three rooms, preserved and reinstated from the 1969 event. Especially mesmerizing is a
virtual reality movie experience through 360-degree headcams and headsets on the bed, allowing hotel guests and
visitors to relive the moments with stunning precision and spectacular effect.
Here, above, is a shot of one of the 12 interactive drawers of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono-inspired archive
cabinet wall, in Queen E. suite # 1740, officially launched in September of 2017. This particular drawer contains
a pair of 1470 CFOX Bed-In photos and audio testimonials of our pair of privileged radio colleagues of the day,
(the late) Roger Scott and (the late) Charles P. Rodney Chandler, that our CFOX Mtl Archive supplied exclusively
for and with permission to the Hotel for this bilingual exhibit. In this CFOX-themed drawer produced by Agence
Massiv'Art in Montreal, guests or visitors can press on the button on the left to hear Roger fondly recalling
broadcasting bedside during the 1969 event...press the button on the right and magically, it's Chuckie Chandler
taking over, giving his memories of the extravaganza of the day.
Room #1742 and its adjacent suites can be visited upon advance request or reserved for an overnight stay.
Chances are good you will experience "peace"...and quiet for a night to remember !"
